Movember Keeps Growing

Though there are fewer moustaches now visible at Saskatchewan Minerals, the tradition of Movember grows on.

Saskatchewan Minerals participated last month in “Movember,” a national moustache-growing charity campaign for Prostate Cancer Canada that raises funds and awareness for men’s health across Canada and around the world.

Since 2011, we have contributed more than $2,100 to the annual effort, which raised more than $35 million nationwide in 2012.

“Prostate cancer really hits close to home for some of us at Saskatchewan Minerals,” says Matt Hetherington, controller at Saskatchewan Minerals. “Some employees here have had experience with this type of cancer in their families.

“The Movember campaign really helps to show our support for men’s health and prostate cancer research, and really bolsters a sense of community spirit.”

It is in this spirit that the Chaplin plant came together to participate in this year’s event.

“Movember is a big part of the Saskatchewan Minerals culture,” Matt says. “It’s become an annual tradition for us at the plant, and we have fun with it. We never lose sight of the overall picture, but it’s the camaraderie that makes the tradition so great.”

Though the campaign is now over for another year – with moustaches freshly shaved – we all look forward to continuing the tradition of Movember in the years to come.

And whatever your tradition this holiday season, we hope you enjoy it in the company of friends, family and loved ones.

Happy holidays!
